‘Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication’ Leonardo da Vinci

As a designer I seek to create clean functional pieces that are aesthetically attractive. William Morris once said that you should have ‘nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful’ and it is in this vein I aim to create pieces that will somehow enhance the user, either through the physical form, ergonomics or interaction with the piece(s). I will predominately specialise in the medium of ceramics, although I frequently produce paper maquettes as a starting point. I particularly seek to explore shape through mould making and then in turn slip casting. Geometric forms and mathematical concepts form an integral thread within my work which creates a fresh, contemporary aesthetic.
